The Tronix: Tron & The Matrix Compared
KEVIN FLYNN & NEO
![]() ![]() *Both have great power within the computer worlds, being able to control the very fabric of it. *They both aid a group of resistance fighters. *Both at first couldn't believe the situations they were in when the truth of the digital worlds was revealed to them. *While both start out as the young inexperience heroes, later on they show much greater wisdom. *They both ultimately sacrifice their lives to destroy a primary villain (Clu 2/Smith) and save the world. CLU & SMITH
![]() ![]() *Both are computer programs who betrayed and left the control of their masters (Kevin Flynn/The Machine System). *Both are the slaves to their purpose. *They are both seen as dark versions of the two above compared heroes (Clu was created by Kevin and bears his likeness and is based on his personality/The Oracle described Smith as Neo's opposite and negative. The result of the equation trying to blance itself out) *Both hold personal grudges against the heroes (Kevin Flynn for abandoning him when they promised to work together to create the perfect system/Neo for destroying him and trying to take away his purpose). *Both take control over a great deal of the systems/people within the computer worlds. *Their plans don't stop at dominating the computer worlds (The Grid/The Matrix) they plan on stretching their hands into the real worlds. *Both show a great deal of emotion for being computer programs. *Both were killed once before in the first but returned (if one will count the Clu from the original TRON) in the second films. *Both in their final moments learn the truth of an emotional human concept that they could no fully grasp until it is revealed to them by their rivals (The nature of perfection being unknowable and impossible by Kevin/The nature of freewill and choice by Neo). Both through these circumstances see also the true extent of human compassion when questioning the hero's actions (Kevin while saying perfection was impossible to create was still always in front of you in those you love/Neo was deliberately making the choice against all odds to keep on fighting to save his friends as well as the human race). *They're both finally destroyed when they assimilate with the above compared characters and die in a great explosion of light together that also wipes out their armies. TRON & SERAPH
![]() ![]() *Computer programs that fight for the human race. *Both are extremely skilled combatants. *They are powerful allies to earlier compared heroes (Kevin Flynn/Neo). *During the uprisings of a lead villain (Clu/Smith) they are consumed into their forces while protecting someone (Kevin Flynn/Sati), but are eventually freed by (Kevin/Neo). LORA BAINES & NIOBE
![]() ![]() *Women who are part of love triangles. They were once with a man (Kevin/Morpheus) but eventually left them and started a relationship with someone else (Alan Bradley/Commander Lock) and because of this share a tension with Kevin and Morpheus. In the end however they both end up with two earlier compared heroes (Alan/Morpheus). YORI & TRINITY
![]() ![]() *Strong willed female characters that resist the oppressive rule of the evil machines. *Both, at least for a time, serve as love interests to Kevin and Neo. *When it seems like (Kevin/Neo) are going to die (Kevin jumping into the MCP to destroy it/Neo being shot by Smith in the Matrix), both sets have a passionate kiss. QUORRA & SATI
![]() ![]() *Both are beings within the comptuer worlds whose existences are annomalies. One being life that spontaneously appeared within the Grid, the other being the result of love between two other computer programs. *Both were members of groups of programs deemed imperfections by the machines and were sought to be destroyed, and eventually were the last of their kinds (ISOs/Exiles). CASTOR/ZUSE & THE MEROVINGIAN
![]() ![]() *Both hold great power, and prefer to hang out at a club. *They are very old computer programs, living through many versions of their worlds (The Grid/The Matrix). *The heroes go to them seeking aid, but in the end find an enemy. *Both were hinted at once being good programs by quotes (Zuse saying "I once believed in the users to son of Flynn!"/Persephone saying to Neo that the Merovingian used to be like him). |
