Idea for profit

Could Listal not make some kind of profit by using its rating systems and what not to sell products to people? Eg when compiling this top 100 films to see before you die list, there has to be some films on there that people have never seen, and they are sure to go out and buy them with the aim of fulfilling the lists intent. Why cant Listal gain from that? If they bought the dvd etc from a link direct from Listal then they would get a referrers fee for making that company some money. This could help with the running costs etc and overall, improve the site. If it got to the point where Listal was becoming rich from the turn over (unlikely as it might sound now) or if some investment was found, you could even add a store feature yourself and make profit by being the seller not the referrer. I know the primary objective of the site is social networking in relation to our media views and interests but it is most definitely encouraging people to spend money, money which Listal could be getting a cut of.

As long as listal isn't pushing me to buy something every time I log on, that's cool with me.

Well all the amazon link are affiliate links although these could be more prominent.

I had absolutely no idea they were affiliate links Tom, that could definitely be more prominent! hehe. I agree with DOK that it shouldn't be prominent enough that it is forced upon you, but if for example each item had a link saying "this can be purchased here for ยฃx.xx" in its main description page, people can just go through Listal for all their internet shopping, it is providing an informative service that should be of genuine use to people.
