Suggestion: Improve browsing thru pictures

Here is an exmaple:

It would be nice, especially on actor pages that have lots of pictures, as well as lots of crap pictures (like all their baby photos), to be able to have a button to sort by date, by # of views, and by # of votes.

It's such a pain having to go thru several pages just to find good ones.

an in case you're wondering, you have to go all the way to page 5 & 6 before finding ANY good picture of Kirsten Dunst. And by then, you're not really fantasizing about her anymore, eh? Instead, you're wondering to yourself 'damn, she was a butch in school!' lol

oh, and when you click on 'sort by votes', since there's some that don't have any or very few votes, or lots of 1 votes only, make secondary sort field automatically be # of views.

Say there are 12 pictures all with 1 vote only, show those 12 in order of # of views, and all remaining 0 vote in order of # of views as well.

come to think of it, we can just have two sort methods, 'sort by date' or 'sort by popularity', popularity being this VOTE=primary, # VIEWS=secondary sorting method.

re-suggesting my suggestion. When you get people like this 'isa' uploading 6+ pages (over 90 images) all in short time frame, many of them great, many of them crap, and quite a few of them duplicates (or triplicates) of ones that have already been posted, it makes visiting the person's pictures an exercise in torture, especially when someone sets a horrid primary image and you're trying to find the one posted months ago.

To expand on the suggestion, here's ideas to help make popular actor/actresses picture galleries useable:

1. Add options to sort by date, popularity (views), and by votes. Default can remain by date, but please allow us to quickly see top voted or popular pix.

2. Give mods option to lock primary image for certain entries that keep getting abused.

3. Add a mini-thumb view with hopefully 50 or more images per page, so people can quickly know if image they wish to upload is a dupe.

4. It was suggested by Tom to limit uploads to 20 per member per actor/actress. It is fair and should be applied, maybe even retro-active. Nobody should need to upload more than 20 pictures per person - having unlimited upload makes people send every single picture they find, no matter how similar or poor an image may be, so it also boils down to quality vs quantity concern.

Maybe instead they could get access to the logs of who alters the primary image, and that way they'll know who is abusing it and they could have a word.

or maybe make it visible as in (history) for item edits is now, so ANYONE can go have a word with this person :)


another suggestion for the primary image issue (and I agree with you GA, I dont want to 'lock' things down, and do like a different image of sorts), but maybe if, for POPULAR actors/actresses, we limit primary image selection only to the top 20 votes/viewed images? or maybe once a certain page gets abused, allow mods to set only a select few images that could be set as primary. this way, prevents abuse, but also allows choices.

But I think by exposing (history) of primary image setting would make some people reluctant to change an image 'because it would be funny' :)
