Import XML files - IMPORTANT

Gary King 18 years, 9 months ago at Jul 19 15:48 -
I consider the ability to import XML files (which contain the ASIN numbers for each item) as the most important feature that is currently missing from Listal. Why? Because there are people that have databases from different programs of their movies, already, and these people that have the databases, are usually more tech-savvy than most people. Which means that they will really benefit from using this website - including me. A lot of people use Delicious Library especially (including me), and so if Listal were to include the ability to import from Delicious Library (it's simply an XML file. Remove everything but the ASINs, just import it, and you're done.) then I'd rush over to Listal from Delicious Library right away. I have 101 movies in the database and don't want to have to retype them all back into Listal.

I recently got my dad hooked on Listal, too; he didn't have a movie database to begin with so it was better for him to begin on Listal.

So, please think about this feature :)

I second the interest in this feature.

I see that you've added Delicious Library import, and that's great. It's what'll get me to use this site. Except that it doesn't work for me. I tried importing my file and just got a blank page as a result. My home page still claims i haven't added anything. So, thinking it was maybe too large (2.3 mb) i ran it through a script to trim it down to just the books and nothing from recommendations (now just 170k for roughly 230 books) and imported that file. Same result.

masukomi at gmail dot com if you want the files or have any other questions (i'm terrible about checking forums in a timely manner).

Can you send an example of the cvs export that DL does preferably with a variety of different types of things and different statuses set, loan information, condition and other fields?

Similar to the starter of this thread, I've been wanting to move over my collection to this site. I've been using another web-based manager, and can easily export to CVS from there. I noticed Delicious Manager's output is in XML. Could you either a.) accept generic upload CVS with some field mapping built-in or b.) post the structure of the XML you now accept so I can mold my CVS into an acceptable file ?

Thanks.
