OriHime, created by Japanese startup OryLab, is a portable robot about the same height as a laptop screen that acts as an avatar for a human operator.
The Wi-Fi-connected, battery-powered and app-controlled robot has an onboard camera that acts as the eyes for its human operator, flippers that move to reflect its userโs moods and a microphone that projects the userโs voice.
This robot can be used by people who canโt move, owing to incurable diseases, to provide them with a sense of purpose within society and a way to enter the labour force through the robot.
