This is the opening sequence of the 1979 film "All That Jazz" starring Roy Schreider as Broadway dancer, director and film director Bob Fosse. It is directed by Fosse and is somewhat of a fantasy depiction of himself during the period when he was editing his film on comic Lenny Bruce " Lenny" while at the same time putting the Broadway show "Chicago" together in rehearsals.
What's great about this video is the song sung and played by George Benson who was a jazz guitar master long before he hit it big as a singer...and the dancers themselves. They're still called "gypsies" --never made huge money, had relatively short careers and yet without the quality of Broadway dancers and singers I doubt American theater would ever have had the impact it has had around the globe. Here's a CBS piece on Broadway Gypsies that is pretty cool. www.cbsnews.com/news/the-lives-of-broadway-gypsies/
