Up All Night review

Another half-decent sitcom. Another show Lorne Michaels has his name on, and of course, there are some SNL actors on it. I don't much care for Maya Rudolph, I have always found her to be quite annoying, so I wish they had chosen anyone else for the high maintenance talk show host, but Christina Applegate and Will Arnett are a solid pairing.

Not much else to say about this. It's sometimes funny, though I wish it could be funnier more of the time (I think Maya Rudolph ruins it), worth watching, then walking away and probably forgetting what you just saw an hour later. Filler, fluff, that kind of a show. Might not last, but you never know what the TV audience will choose, what the networks will choose to keep and what to toss, so it just might survive.

It's a baby show, without the baby.

So,I guess Will Arnett has just given up. In only a few years he went from playing eccentric, wacky, funny guys, to playing a stay-at-home dad. Christina Applegate takes a break from doing crappy movies to do a crappy TV show. And Maya Rudolph, is just there. It's like they just decided: "Hey let's get Maya Rudolph on this show!", but they had no real plan for her character. If you thought this show about the baby, you were mistaken. This show is about Will Arnett and Christina Applegate realizing that they're getting old, and that they aren't as cool as they once were. And, unfortunately life imitates art. Overall, it has a few funny bits, but with bland dialogue, stereotypical characters and one or two forgettable jokes, this show is a hit and miss.
