What are your favorite anime films and favorite directors?

Mr. Saturn 11 years, 8 months ago at Aug 5 5:37 -
My top ten films are:
Spirited Away
My Neighbour Totoro
Princess Mononoke
Grave of the Fireflies
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Howl's Moving Castle
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Whisper of the Heart
Kiki's Delivery Service
Paprika

I love Miyazaki's films and saw some films by Satoshi Kon and Shinichirô Watanabe.

End of Evangelion
Angel's Egg
Whisper of the Heart
Grave of the Fireflies
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke

As you can see, I have somewhat of a fondness for Miyazaki. However, I just began exploring Satoshi on (all I've watched is his impossibly brilliant series "Paranoia Agent") so this could likely change

Satoshi Kon is my favorite. I also like Miyazaki - I respect his talent and enjoy his work (Mononoke, Nausicaa, Spirited Away), I just am not interested in movies for children. Hideaki Anno's Evangelion will forever be in my heart, but I think of Anno as a TV guy and head of GAINAX, not as a movie director.

Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite movies, so I want to watch more of his stuff; I just never got around to actually doing it.

Haven't seen them for a long time but these would've been my choices many years ago:

Akira
Grave of the Fireflies
Perfect Blue
Ghost in the Shell
Ninja Scroll
A Wind Named Amnesia
The Wings of Honneamise
Roujin Z
Galaxy Express 999
Battle Angel (OVA)

Favourite directors: Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Oshii, Isao Takahata and Yoshiaki Kawajiri.

Can't for the life of me explain why I've held off the Evangelion franchise for so long; I'll make it a priority one of these days.
