She is the mother of Mexican pop diva Paulina Rubio, and has worked in around 50 movies and TV series, including a number of telenovelas (Spanish soap-operas). She is currently working on the soap-opera El Juramento.
On January 11, 2011, her ex-husband died from kidney Cancer.
In recent years Dosamantes has worked in the United States in order to be near her daughter, Paulina. Both Susana and Paulina now live in Miami, Florida. Dosamantes is among the list of aging actresses who have left Televisa in recent years after over 30 years with the network (Angelica Maria and most recently Aida Pierce are among the others.)
