Description:
It is typical of Miles Davis that his final studio album saw him still exploring. This time alongside producer/rapper Bee Mo Easy it was the sounds of hip-hop/jazz crossover. Using samples from the likes of Kool and the Gang and James Brown the result is a mellow groove, similar to acid jazz with a touch of the trip hop jazz that was to follow. It's a fun album, which has suffered some overt criticism since its release due to critics' expectation that a genius like Miles should have signed off with a classic (and plainly Doo Bop is not).
