Description:
Incredible classic material from the Wailers' ska days at Studio One. This was the first album or collection of their work released, somewhere around 1965, and it's worth it for much more than the kitschy cover of Bob, Bunny and Peter Tosh rocking baldheads and suits (that's Bob in the middle). The album is full of classic tunes which you will probably recognize from the more popular versions which the Wailers later recorded. Once you get used to the fact that they are fairly different, these early tunes often carry more fire... just check out the original version of "Put It On(1)." Makes me jump up every time I hear i

Once you get used to the fact that they are fairly different, these early tunes often carry more fire... just check out the original version of "Put It On(1)." Makes me jump up every time I hear it, not to mention this raw version of "Simmer Down(2)." There's also the rare track "Love Or Affection(3)." The album is split between ska scorchers like these and some of their more soulful tunes including a great super slow version of "I'm Still Waiting(4)." Other than their god awful cover of "Ten Commandments Of Love" this whole thing is extremely enjoyable and another must in the early Wailer's collection. Also includes an uncredited version of "One Love(5)," plus "Lonesome Feeling(6), Ska Jerk(7), Rude Boy(8)" and others. Recommended.
