The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet Reviews

After  4 long years, at last Jean-Pierre Jeunet was finally coming up with a new directing effort so, of course,  I was really eager to check it out. To be honest, I didn't care much for his last movie, 'Micmacs à tire-larigot', and this last one barely got noticed when it was released but I still hoped it would be at least a decent watch. Well, at the end of the day, I'm afraid t this movie turned out to be even more underwhelming. First of all, I have to admit that I didn't see it in 3D as it was intended to be seen (I watched it at home on DVD) so maybe I missed something but I doubt it. I mean, it was not bad at all, I'll give you that, and it was indeed visually really neat, which was something rather expected from this director, but I guess I'm getting a little bit tired of his obsession of delivering every time again some supposedly quirky and whimsical tale. Seriously, it was a rather weak story with some fairly uninteresting characters and the whole thing was in fact rather tedious to watch. Basically, it felt like a really generic and predictable children story. Anyway, to conclude, even though the whole thing was rather disappointing, it was still far from being a bad movie and I still believe it is worth a look, especially if you're interested in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's work.
