" The trailer suggests they're going all out for this film, which is hopefully a good thing. It looks like a better film than the other recent Universal monsters films did. I skipped all of those, however, so there's a good chance I'll sleep on this one too."
" This was...okay. Better than average I guess, but not really everything I expected it to be. There was some weird humor throughout and the tone of the movie didn't really match what I thought it should. I loved the effects and the acting was good. There were SOME funny moments, but they just felt out of place to me."
“Since this movie was so poorly received, I didn't expect much from the damned thing but Nick, my step-son, was really eager to check it out. Well, in fact, probably because I had such low expectations but, to be honest, I thought it was actually not bad at all. I mean, this mummy concept remains rather limited and I thought the makers did a decent job. Sure, it was still nothing really amazing but the action scenes were quite spectacular. "The film starts out okay, and has some decent potential, but the film ends up becoming overstuffed, exposition driven, and lacks a sense of natural progression, with a CG-laden climax that feels forced, and wastes potential and talent. 5.1/10"
"Anybody expecting a fun action movie in the same vein as the Brendan Fraser Mummy trilogy are going to be disappointed with this movie. It lacks what made that trilogy so entertaining. The script is a bit confusing and I've no idea why the character of Dr Jekyll was included. The special effects were good, but the rest of the movie lacked any solid foundation. Apart from Sofia Boutella, the rest of the cast wasn't very good. Tom Cruise is usually very reliable in his movies but pulled in a cring"
"When: June 10th First-Time Viewing: Yes. How: In theaters. What'd I Think?: Overstuffed, occasionally entertaining, disappointing reboot. My Rating: 5/10 Other Notes: NA."
"10/6/17 The first in the new franchise Dark Universe, feels like a Tom Cruise movie which The Mummy has decided to jump on board for the ride. Brimming with CGI and Tom running and jumping, while other characters explain everything, this borrows so much from other, better movies, that you long to be at home watching those better movies. A missed opportunity."
