"5.2. 2024 Jules Dassin directed some of the best crime films of the '50s, but "Topkapi" is a clear disappointment compared to Dassin's previous films. The hollow plot tells about a group of thieves who plan to steal a precious dagger from a Turkish museum. The heist sequence is the only somewhat entertaining part in this otherwise dull and lazily directed film. The jokes are mostly based on tired cultural stereotypes and uninspired slapstick, and the characterization feels distracting and weird"
"Released on September 17, 1964 Produced by Filmways Pictures Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actor (Peter Ustinov) "
"An odd foreign-movie-style-but-English-speaking heist movie with an awesome opening that seems out of place from the rest of the film."
"Directed by: Jules Dassin A conman gets mixed up with a group of thieves who plan to rob an Istanbul museum to retrieve a jeweled dagger. "
