They Live update feed
"A streetwise drifter (Roddy Piper) discovers a pair of sunglasses which allow him to see subliminal messages hidden behind every billboard, newspaper, and TV commercial in America, as well as the true faces of the masked aliens walking among us, intent to dominate our world in secret. They Live‘s anti-consumerist message is so apparent in the action on screen that it doesn’t even qualify as subtextual. But this sort of obvious explication functions, cleverly, as a deliberate ideological misd"

"28.10.2018 The message of this movie is still current. my rating: 7,0"
"With They Live, John Carpenter took the idea of allegorical horror, acknowledged it, and proceeded to upend all notions of subtlety, casting a professional wrestler in the lead role and turning his villains into human aliens spearheading a worldwide media brainwash. As Roddy Piper roams the streets of Los Angeles, rifle in hand, chewing scenery and bubblegum alike, a one-man wrecking crew on a mission to thwart invasion and open the third eye of a populace too drugged on consumer culture to real"
" Date: 10/19/2018 Viewed: Blu-Ray Re-watch Note: This movie keeps on better and better with viewing. The story, characters and the social commentary are top notch. This movie may look cheesy when it's not. One of the movie's theme is the more things change, the more they stay the same. This movie is timeless. Highly recommended! "
" 'They Live' was so cool! Roddy Piper does this amazing job of making us believe he's actually seeing aliens through these sunglasses. He's so non-chalant and natural the whole time. Yeah, the aliens are kind of goofy mask people with bad makeup, but he is so adamant about them being real, you just go along with it. Sure, I'll bite. The way it ended was semi-surprising as well. I'll definitely see this again in the future."
"30.6. (BD) Juttua Laajiksen projektiin kujatappelusta."
"John Carpenter's underrated cult classic has Roddy Piper as a drifter who finds himself facing aliens that he can see when using a special pair of sunglasses. Carpenter's fun sci-fi action picture has plenty of set pieces and some off-the-wall one-liners like the now infamous "I came to chew bubble gum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubble gum!" Piper is ably supported by David Keith and their epic fight sequence has gone down in cult cinema history as one of the best."
"9.6 (uusintakatselu) Carpenterin kapitalistinen kannanotto lyö toisellakin katselukerralla Reaganin konservatiiviselta juppiyhteiskunnalta jauhot kurkkuun. Mielipide ei ole muuttunut ensimmäisestä kerrasta lainkaan, mutta vanhempana ja viisaampana ymmärsin entistä enemmän elokuvan pointin. Mustavalkoestetiikka on suora kunnianosoitus 50-luvun B-luokan kauhuelokuville, joiden parissa Carpenter varttui. Kohtaus, jossa Roddy Piper ja Keith David tappelevat kujalla kuvaa sitä, miten työväe"
