Theater of Blood review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 30 December 2011 01:17

I don't like this film much because it is center around Shakespeare and I wasn't much of a fan of Shakespeare to being with. I will say that I do love seeing Vincent act out his plays, which he'd been doing before he was a film actor. It comes as no surprise that this was the film Vincent regarded as his favourite. He wears so many different costumes in this and he even sports an afro in one bit. The problem I have with this film is the style in which it was shot. It's almost too 70's and it's suppose to be humerous but I found myself laughing very little, unlike some of his other dark humor films. Most of the co-actors are annoying and I don't care much for the band of hobo misfits that support Lionheart in his crimes.

The story is Edward Lionheart is an actor that get's shafted by a group of critics at an award show. Edward believes he should have won so after the show he crashes the critics party, spouts off some classic Shakespear and tosses himself off a high balcony and into the River Thames. Everyone believes him dead but as the critics start dying Shakespearian deaths people start to figure out that Edward may have actually survived the fall. We soon learn he is getting help from his daughter as well. It's a good film but not a classic Price movie by any means.
