The Simpsons Movie review

Posted : 4 years, 11 months ago on 8 April 2019 02:09

Excellent

We saw 'The Simpsons Movie' in the cinema and it was so funny, they had some decent guest stars (Albert Brooks, Marcia Wallace, Joe Mantegna, Tom Hanks and Green Day) and a really funny and good story, some funny jokes, some brilliant acting (especially Julie Kavner and Dan Castellaneta who delivered strong performances) and a very entertaining comedy, some funny, awesome new characters (Russ Cargill, Colin) and a very funny nude sequence with Bart

I thought 'The Simpsons Movie' was just so amazing, two minutes of the cartoon, I would laughing like crazy, 86 minutes? 43 times funnier; better than funny, better than very funny, better than hilarious, even better than laugh your socks off; ALL OF THEM IN ONE BOWL OF COMEDY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Bart’s nude skateboarding? HAHAHAHAHAHA! Homer reactivating the bomb? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Homer nailing a tile to his leg? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Anything else? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

To conclude it is a must see especially if you’re a die-hard fan of the cartoon

A good movie

Since I have always been a die-hard fan of the Simpson , I really had to watch this flick at some point. Of course, the show is not as good as it used to be (I mean, it is after all the longest running cartoon show ever so it is not surprising that the quality is not there anymore) but I thought that this full length feature was good enough. Eventually, it was a big success at the box-office and I thought this success was deserved. First of all, I liked the fact that they kept the drawing style but still improved the quality of the animation somehow. Furthermore, the big question was would they be able to go from 20 minutes to a 90 minutes format. Even though everybody was complaining saying 'it is just a long episode...', I thought the plot stood up pretty well and I was definitely entertained throughout the whole thing. I guess it all depends what you think of the show, if you can't stand it anymore, this movie will be really painfull to watch but if you still love them, it will be a real treat. To conclude, even though it was nothing amazing, it didn't disappoint me and I think it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the TV-show.

A phenomenal success to a phenomenal series!!

Being a big fan of the series since childhood, I just couldn't wait for the film and it became my most anticipating film of summer 2007! It was pretty much like an extended episode of the original series. One thing that did surprise me and was probably one of the best qualities of the film technically and they was the animated effects. It was really clear and colourful! It felt like watching a film in HD and blu-ray so I can't even imagine what The Simpsons Movie would look like on blu-ray. There were also moments where it looked half live-action, half animated even though it obviously isn't. The plot is very simple that features some of the best jokes and witty moments of humour that I think I've ever seen in an animated film! There was one crude moment but despite that, the jokes were really awesome and I couldn't stop laughing!

Springfield are in an environmental crisis as of late and when Homer dumps waste in the Springfield lake, the entire town becomes trapped inside this dome that is as big as the town itself to protect everywhere else from the pollution Springfield have. When the rest of the Simpsons family and everybody in Springfield discover that Homer 'killed the town' so to speak, he becomes the most hated and they want his head! Miraculously, the Simpsons family escape the dome and Springfield and move on to Alaska. However, they discover the government seek to destroy Springfield! Will the Simpsons arrive in time and save the town? Dan Castellaneta is the main star in the film and portrays the voices of most of the characters in the film like Homer, Grandpa Abraham Simpson, Krusty The Clown, Barney, Mayor Quimby, Sideshow Mel and some others. Julie Kavner has one unique voice but her voice for Marge is absolutely PERFECT! Nancy Cartwright's voice portrayal of Bart is probably one of the most extraordinary things I've ever experienced! I mean, listening to Bart's talk, his laugh and EVERY single thing about the character, it really is hard to believe that it’s a woman's voice! Yeardley Smith is the only actor/actress who doesn't portray the voice of more than one character! She only provides the voice of Lisa Simpson.

David Silverman perhaps had tons of pressure while in production of this blockbuster especially it being a film adaptation of a series that has been around for over 20 years! In my personal opinion, because the film was such a huge success (both critically and box office rating), I wanted the series to end with a bang: the film's release! Like the film would be the last thing we would see seeing as it wasn't going to get any better. I mean, the series itself is dying now unfortunately and they should just stop! I would like to see Silverman make another animated film now! The script was awesome! I'm glad that all of the creators of the series were part of it because they all know the characters so well and it would've really failed if any others did it. One thing I can't believe: How was it not nominated for Best Animated Picture?! Should've been nominated instead of Surf's Up!

Overall, The Simpsons Movie is an absolutely AMAZING film that I loved from the first-viewing, still love it now after 3 years and always will love it! A phenomenal success to the original series that will live on forever! It's one of the best of 2007.

Samesons!

''He's not Spider-Pig anymore, he's Harry Plopper.''

After Homer accidentally pollutes the town's water supply, Springfield is encased in a gigantic dome by the EPA and the Simpsons family are declared fugitives.

Dan Castellaneta: Homer & more (Voice/s)

The Simpsons Movie is unusually slow paced at various points. At the same conjunction the storyline is not really stretched to cinematic levels. Epic as it may seem to us, the scenarios have already been dealt with, in the unending TV episodes.
It's been said countless times and it's more or less true, nothing here tries to push any new frontiers and except for the length of the whole escapade you would never realize that this is a Simpsons: MOVIE.

Other flaws include the fact that some inhabitants of Springfield have only very brief cameos, like Mr. Burns! (Excellent!) and that some ideas have been recycled and regurgitated. As entertaining as Simpsons still may be, it is also easily predictable. This kind of mainstream floundering may have its own agenda for box office means but in the end I would have hoped for this to be something special, something more. The movie is by no means a catastrophe, but by Simpsons standards it's just not good enough.

The Simpsons have become a household name, a franchise. People know what to expect and therefore applaud even a relatively average movie like this one. The vultures, the fans, the kids who are all sucked in by the brand name.
To rely on that is a bit lazy like the annoying Homer who provides laughs to a certain extent but then proceeds to do the same lame jokes for the duration of the movie. I mean a dome, Arnold as president, and a pig who shits loads, have the makers run out of original ideas or am I like countless others, and numerous of my good Flixster friends, meant to embrace this movie too. Unfortunately no, I'm going to go against the grain and provide my honest opinion, and that is exactly what I've done. That being said I neither love nor hate The Simpsons Movie I'm stuck right in the middle.
I love the TV series so I'm sure my disappointment is poignantly captured here in my review.
