The Meaning of Life review

Posted : 2 years ago on 22 March 2022 10:21

The Meaning of Life is not for everyone. It is very tasteless, but it is often brilliant too. The film is uneven of course but it is very funny. It looks good, the direction is solid and the dialogue and gags are witty, unique and inspired. The acting and comic timing from Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Jones is impeccable too. And there are some genuinely funny moments such as the sequence in which a financial institution is boarded by swashbuckling pirates and Every Sperm is Sacred. However, some of the middle half borders on the dull side, while the war parody is overlong and the sequence in which a glutton explosively overeats is incredibly grotesque(one word of advice: don't watch this sequence while eating). Overall though, it is funny and clever. 7/10 Bethany Cox

A good movie

By now, I have seen all the movies involving the Monty Python and while I was wildly enthousiast at first, I must admit it that I was a little bit disappointed. I mean, I more or less enjoyed all their movies but I didnโ€™t find them really excellent and I came to the conclusion that their humor is not really my cup of tea. For example, I had some big expectations for this flick but, to be honest, I thought it was a little bit disappointing. I know this is a huge classic but I didn't think it was that great. Don't misunderstand me! I enjoyed it and I though it was pretty good but it was not a masterpiece in my opinion. I mean, the concept sounded awesome on paper but it was just too random. Indeed, for me, it is was too anarchic and incoherent and the whole thing was just a collection of sketches. Sure, there were many funny moments but I preferred the struture that they used for 'The Life of Brian' which had more or less a plot. In spite of all this, after all, it is still a very funny and entertaining flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you're interested in Monty Python.

The Meaning of Life review

Life, death, sex, religion. The Meaning of Life has it all, including the meaning of life. The first Monty Python movie I have seen and it was awesome! Monty Python takes on the biggest question of all time: What is the meaning of life? And drags it out into IV 1/2 sections. My favorite film genre of all time has got to be British comedy's, so naturally I enjoyed this movie. You never know what to expect from a this film, from a half-time show to a musical number about sperm. So bring a bucket, and a sense of humor, you'll need it. 8.0
