" DVD- 1hr. 36min. First Viewing The Hero plays with some well worn aging/stardom stereotypes and, while it doesn't fully outgrow them, is able to add some freshness to them, thanks to clean storytelling and a superb performance from Sam Elliot. While it's an okay film regardless, I'm not sure that the film would work without Elliot's gravitas; he lends much of the emotion that the story is able to elicit. It's not a surprising film, but it is able to make the most of familiarity. Monthly Wesle"
