The Heartbreak Kid review

Posted : 11 years, 7 months ago on 22 August 2012 12:56

I don't know what got into me so I would watch this , I dislike Ben stiller .. I don't like his form of comedy at all , but I thought it would be a nice chick - flick .. It turned out just the opposite .. Specially Malin performance .. It was obnoxious and unbearable .. Though I gave the movie one star for the shooting location which was simply beautiful ..

The Heartbreak Kid review

Posted : 12 years, 5 months ago on 10 October 2011 12:30

What an awful, terrible, just pitifully bad, movie. I had never seen it until now, and I sat through the entire thing, despite the fact that I knew it was going to be a trainwreck from the beginning. Completely predictable, plus, no surprise, Ben Stiller's character is a total douchebag. And his father, who I do NOT like, plays his father on screen, and is a huge tool as well.

I couldn't figure out why I hadn't gotten around to watching this, and now that I have, I wish I had never wasted my time. NOTHING about it was funny. Well, maybe Rob Corddry. I think he was the best thing in the entire movie, and his part was relatively small. Everything else, sucked. Big time. What a waste of time I can never get back.

An average movie

What happened to the Farrelly Brothers? Following their success with ‘Dumb & Dumber’, they became pretty much the kings of the Raunchy comedy but it has been a while since they got a real hit. Anyway, it is not with such an underwhelming remake that they will make a come-back anytime soon, that’s for sure. I mean, I do believe that Ben Stiller is a decent actor and sometimes he can be really hilarious. For this movie,  he did his usual awkward unlucky guy which was but a little bit overdone by now. Anyway, even though there were some bits here and there which were fairly amusing,  most of it  was rather tedious, I’m afraid, and even pretty lame at some points. The most difficult thing to swallow was the really sudden change of behavior displayed by Malin Akerman. I mean, I’ll give you that, she is a pretty girl but she wasn’t really convincing here and, as a result, the whole premise pretty much fell apart. Anyway, to conclude, even though I didn’t care much for the whole thing, I still think it was a decent watch and if you are fan of the Farelly brothers, I guess it is worth a look.

This movie could of been good

The Heartbreak Kid i really did find boring the jokes weren't funny and the story was just plain bad. The trailer was great but i just bought it on DVD for £10 if you ask me i just wasted £10. The humor is pretty much the same as Ben Stiller's other movies so nothing different. This movie should of and could of been a whole lot better shame.

Another Farrelly bros hit

Put aside a lot of the negative ratings, and don't compare this to that other Farrelly/Stiller hit 'There's Something About Mary', and what you're left with is a solid, perverted, and funny comedy. Ben Stiller still manages to crack me up just by his expressions, and Rob Corddry is hilarious in this.

The part that was 'off' in this movie, which may explain the negative ratings, is some people probably mistook this as a romantic comedy, but the Farrelly brothers kept making it spin more eccentric and perverted thru its runtime, so what you have here is a weird sort of hybrid between a raunchy comedy about a guy trying to get together with another woman while on his honeymoon, and a romantic comedy about a quick marriage. Even the ending threw me for a (good) loop, as the ending was so unexpected. haha, loved it. But definitely the jokes are geared more towards the 'married' guys and girls out there, so maybe the overly young IMDB crowd just doesn't get it.

Overall a great comedy, something we don't see much these days, and a definite keeper for my collection.

I actually thought this film was very good*

I don't understand all of the bad ratings and reviews of this film. I mean, it wasn't great, or excellent, but Ben Stiller was very funny. The plot did have a lot of crude dialog, but once you get past that, it is just a really entertaining film.

*IGNORE THIS* It Was written YEARS ago.

6.4/10
