The Brother Bloom is one thing and one thing only: a very fun film. It’s not perfect, but you can tell from every performance in the film that they were having a good time. And it’s really the performances that make the film. Rachel Wiesz’s delivery of “I think you’re constipated in your fucking soul” is a classic piece of comedic timing. The Brothers Bloom starts out as what looks like it's on its way to being a fun and witty film with many an intelligent twist and turn. Around its halfway point, though, the movie basically runs out of steam: it stops being an interesting tale about cons and about figuring out who's lying and who's telling the truth, and it simply gets tangled up in all the zigzagging that the plot does before it ... read more

Rian Johnson must be one of the must intriguing directors at work nowadays. I mean, check his first three movies : ‘Brick’, ‘The Brothers Bloom’ and ‘Looper’. They are all wildly different in genre and style and I really wonder what he will do next. " DVD- 1hr. 53min. First Viewing While The Brothers Bloom is pretty solid escapism, it's also needlessly grim and narratively jumbled. The cast is very good with Brody, Ruffalo, Kikuchi and Weisz doing excellent work, and Johnson's script is often quite clever, it's just a bit sloppy and tonally ajar. Had there been a tighter story, this could've been something really wonderful; as is, it's an entertaining diversion. "
