The Birdcage Reviews

To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and maybe I should give it a 2^nd chance at some point, especially since I always had a weak spot for Mike Nichols's work. A lot of people seem to really love this movie (Paul Thomas Anderson is apparently a huge fan) but, I don’t know, maybe I was in a bad mood when I saw the damned thing but I thought it was really lame and pretty much worthless. The first thing that bothers me is that even though some of the fans might argue that it is a masterpiece, I wonder if they are aware of the fact that it was actually a remake of ‘La cage aux folles’, a huge classic in France (I have to admit it, I have actually never  seen this French movie). Anyway, I thought that the story and the jokes were just so stupid and not funny at all and, in my opinion, it is in fact one of the worst movies starring Robin Williams. To conclude, even though this movie seems to have a decent reputation, I thought it was a really lame comedy and I don’t think it is worth a look at all.
