A very good movie

Since the rating were pretty high for this movie and since it was recently added to the book ‘1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die’, I was really eager to check it out. To be honest, I’m pretty sure that it will be one of these movies they add every year but which end up being removed directly the year after or at least very soon. Still, I’m glad I saw the damned thing and it was really... read more

Good point, well explained and repeated and analized in its historic evolution: mass incarceration black oriented, in a way is a continuation of slavery. But they don't explore, don't even discuss a contestative theory: You do need to have punishment and prisons, ¿don't you? And there are also white prisononers, don't they?

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- March 2017 (32 movies items)

" Netflix- 1hr. 40min. First Viewing 13th is a compelling and vital film that's made with a well of emotion and humanity. It's not necessarily an eye-opening film (anybody who watches the news can tell you about the films subject matter), but it examines race and incarceration in specific sociological ways as to correct even the most staunch opposition. The documentary is focused almost exclusively in proving its argument that mass incarceration is black oriented. That´s the point of the director, that's what I see and respect; but it's a pity that

" Notes: Of course, I knew already a lot of what they told but they went so much in depth in the subject and they chose some really interesting, well-spoken and knowledgeable speakers. It was really interesting that the problematic came all the way back from the end of the slavery but I was mostly shocked by the privatisation of the prison sector in the USA. I already saw something similar in ‘Sicko’, another very strong documentary delivered by Michael Moore, in which they displayed the dam"

That wasn't the point at all of this documentary... The biggest issue in the US regarding this subject was the fact that there are more than 2 millions prisoners in this country regardless of their e
