Superman IV: The Quest for Peace Reviews
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace review
Posted : 2 years ago on 28 March 2022 02:03I loved the first two Superman films, the third was okay, but this one was awful. Other than Christopher Reeve's assured lead performance and the rousing score, there is very little I can say that is good about this film. The special effects are incredibly cheesy and dated. The story is hackneyed, unoriginal and pretty predictable. The script is lamentable. The direction is stodgy. The pacing is uneven- there are parts that are rushed and there are parts that drag. The other acting is not even worth mentioning, as much as I love Gene Hackman I just don't buy the possibility he thought this film had a good script. Overall, awful and while not the worst sequel ever made it is a disgrace. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace review
Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 19 June 2021 08:43Depends on who you ask. The argument is which Superman was worse III or IV. I think that Superman III was better (not by a lot though). but when you heard Christopher Reeve said there will NEVER be another Superman Movie. There was some parts to save III from being a TOTAL Disaster. IV, sadly, could NOT BE SAVED! There is not one thing to blame. You just look from start to finish, IV (bleep) the bed. Superman I to III is worth watching again, not this one!

A very bad movie
Posted : 8 years, 9 months ago on 21 July 2015 07:33Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, itās 86 minutes of cheap visual effects, poor action and bland acting. Probably the least super Superman movie of all time. I donāt even say yet there because I seriously doubt I will ever watch a Superman movie worse than āSuperman IV: The Quest For Peaceā
Part of this filmās failure comes from its low budget. A big budget doesnāt necessarily mean big success, but buying some better visual effects couldāve improved this film. āSuperman IV: The Quest For Peaceā had a very poor production company, presumably due to budget cutbacks. This resulted in some cheap looking visual effects, with Superman poorly imposed against land in the distance.
The villain is just laughable, Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow) is created with a missile and the sunā¦?! What the hell? Iām sorry but this guyās battles against Superman (Christopher Reeve) are just stupid as well and they made me want to yawn, even more than that of āSuperman IIIā
The entire cast is terrible as well, even Christopher Reeve. Mark Pillow annoys me, and the rest of the actors including Jackie Cooper and Margot Kidder made me yawn in boredom.
This film lacked to make sense, and I say that it made no sense that it was even made, what were these actors thinking? Why was the people in charge of visual effects so lazy? They couldnāt be arsed to have a better budget to improve on visual effects! āSuperman IV: The Quest For Peaceā is a sorry sequel to the goodness in āSupermanā and āSuperman IIā (āSuperman IIIā sucked too)

An average movie
Posted : 13 years ago on 8 April 2011 12:24Obviously, since this movie has a really lousy reputation, I wasnāt expecting much from the whole thing but since we were watching all the Superman movies with my step-son, we had to watch this one at some point. To be honest, eventually, it was not as bad as I expected and, as a matter of fact, I even think that it was much better than the 3rd one which is definitely the worst superman movie ever made. Of course, the whole thing was still pretty weak (the plot about nuclear disarmament was especially pretty pathetic), it was lame but there were some (few) nice elements here and there. I mean, for example, many thought that Nuclear Man was really awful but I didnāt get what was not bad about this character and I thought he was actually a decent villain. Anyway, this movie was such a flop that it would take almost 20 years to come up with a new installment, āSuperman Returnsā, which would be also a flop. To conclude, it is obviously not a masterpiece whatever, it is not even a good movie at all, but I donāt believe it is as bad as everybody is saying. Still, does it meant that it is really worth a look? I donāt think so, except maybe if you are a die-hard fan of the Man of Steel.

ignorant to say the least
Posted : 14 years, 2 months ago on 29 January 2010 02:31Christopher Reeve's las outing of superman to say the least is nothing but crap. However, the cast returns once more for one last Hoo-rah. The world has officially entered the arms race ( with actual footage of Ronald Reagen delivering a speech about it) and the US is plagued with the idea of being number one on the list of most powerful countries, by who owns more nuclear weapons. This isn't a problem for superman until a little boy asks him to do something about it. Things aren't going well with the daily planet either. Perry white ( Jackie Cooper) is plagued with the idea that he might lose his job as the publisher of the Daily Planet unless his papers improve drastically. needless to say the end of this 90 minute (which is significantly short for a superman film) is drab and ever so dull. It shows clearly that director Sidney J. Purie and the writers of the film need a good lesson in humanity.
