An average movie

Posted : 4 years, 1 month ago on 18 March 2020 11:16

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was directed by John Landis, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I really had a hard time to care about the damned thing after all. First of all, the whole concept was at best rather generic. In fact, that was actually a rather generous assessment, in my opinion, it was actually really tedious. Sometimes, it did feel slightly similar to ‘Dr. Strangelove’ but that’s giving this movie way too much credit as nothing remotely smart or thoughtful happened through the whole duration. Concerning the jokes, sure, some of them were funny but most of them were just lame.  And what was the deal with all these cameos from famous directors? I mean, I did spot Sam Raimi and Terry Gilliam but there were many more (Michael Apted, Martin Brest, Joel Coen, Costa-Gavras, Frank Oz, …). Seriously, what was the point? At least, there were a couple of lovely ladies involved (Donna Dixon, Vanessa Angel, Heidi Sorenson) but that was probably the only positive thing I could find regarding this flick. Anyway, to conclude, I thought the damned thing was pretty weak and I don’t think it is really worth a look, except maybe if you really like the genre.

Chevy and Aykroyd..can't go wrong.

I was in the mood for an older comedy and I haven't seen this film before. With a cast of Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd..what could go wrong? The plot is decent and kind of predictable, but it's a fun movie with some great laughs and funny situations. There's even a "special" cameo by someone who's quite the man!

Dislikes: Little bit longer than it needed to be, for the type of film..some parts were supposed to be funny but failed to succeed.

Rating: 7.0/10
