A great movie

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 7 September 2010 11:22

I already saw this movie but, since it was a while back, I thought I might as well check it out again. To be honest, before rewatching it after all these years, I have to admit that I was actually slightly worried. Indeed, I used to really love this movie but, unfortunately, everything Guy Ritchie had delivered afterwards turned out to be only decent at best and sometimes even seriously underwhelming. It's too bad because, back in those days, after directing 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and this movie, Guy Ritchie was considered one of the most promising directors. Indeed, after making these 2 movies, it seemed for a while that he would become one of the most interesting directors on a similar level to Quentin Tarantino, no less than that. Well, that didn't happen, that's for sure. Anyway, as a result, I wondered if I didn't seriously overrate this so-called 'classic'. However, fortunately, this movie, after all these years, is still so freaking awesome though. Above all, it was such a hilarious movie, so completely entertaining from the beginning until the end with some awesome one-liners. There was also a whole bunch of fine actors present who all gave some really solid performances (Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Farina, Vinnie Jones, Brad Pitt, Rade Serbedzija, Jason Statham, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng). Later on, Guy Ritchie tried to get the same vibe with 'RocknRolla' and 'The Gentlemen' but even though these movies were fairly enjoyable, in my opinion, they never reached the level of this classic. Seriously, I will never understand why he doesn't manage to deliver something like this anymore. To be honest, even though he did have a steady career afterwards, there is fair chance that he might be the one of the most disappointing directors I know because he did have such a promising start. Anyway, it is still my favorite movie directed by Guy Ritchie, it is a great flick, and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Gecisleriyle ,gorsel efektleriyle ve dialoglar?yla insan? costuran hayran birakan bir eser..
-anything to declare?

Vinnie jones super basarili, gayet ingiliz bir film;ozellikle Brad pitt e dikkat cekmek istiyorum, tam anlami ile kendine yakisan rolu oturttu,Benicio del toro ,Dennis farina..seyrederken cok eglendim.. filmin kurgusu insan? surekli tetikte tutuyor ve isi birazda izleyiciye b?rakiyor..guy ritchie ingilizligini fazlasiyla gostermis.. konu itibariyle bana biraz get shorty'i hat?rlatt?.. zaten kara mizah degilmi yaptiklari varsin benzesin!.. ayrica benicio del toro gibi bir karizmayida kadrosunda barindirmakla yeterince guzellesmis film.. butun oyuncular muhtesem
Soundtrack'inde bulunan the stranglers - golden brown kesinlikle arsivlerde bulunmas? gereken lezzete sahip.yine Oasis - Fucking in the Bushes de olmazsa olmazlar

Cok eglenceli bir cingene oykusu. bariz tarantino havas? esiyor filmi izlerken.ozellikle cingenelerden karavan satin almaya gittiklerinde ki kopek hakkinda ki konusma cok yaricidir...

guy ritchie filmi 'stealin? stones and breakin? bones' diye özetliyor.

Wow...I liked it

I really like this film. It's so entertaining and enjoyable. Well written by Guy Ritchie and well acted by a good cast.

Like its predecessor, this film has a plot that can't really be told without divulging spoilers, so I'll try to keep this as general as possible. The film follows a host of different characters in different storylines that become juxtaposed throughout the running time.

'Snatch' is a film that becomes better the more times you watch it. The film is so well made and stylish that I found myself enjoying every minute of it. The story isn't as convoluted as 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels', which is a relief because the convoluted nature of that film was what destroyed it for me. There are characters that have interesting names, like Bullet Tooth Tony (Jones) and Franky Four Fingers (Del Toro) that add certain realism to the mafia aspect. The star of the show here for me, though, was Brad Pitt in his best performance to date. This isn't his regular character, but instead a talented Irish gypsy boxing fighter. It's very difficult to see that it is actually Brad Pitt behind the thick accent. All round the performances are superb, including Jason Statham who creates a very believable character as well.

There's also a lot of excellent humour mixed in there as well. The film is stylish, entertaining, hilarious, contains brilliant direction and is a lot of more fun. Recommended.

Snatch review

I really, really loved this one. Definitely has to go up there in my favourite films of all time - this is truly brilliant in every possible way.

At the start all the characters are introduced, and it's one of those movies where they all eventually come together. And in this film it's all over one diamond, everyone wants it. The characters are perfectly placed with the actors, all shown in depth about each character. There are parts in this that maybe aren't supposed to be the funny parts but I still laughed the whole way through.

Jason Statham again proves to have earned his place as one of my all time favourite actors, and again Brad Pitt aced his character and gave this film something no actor could have done, he certainly made this film a memorable one. If only Benico Del Toro stayed in the film for longer ..he really was brilliant for the time he was in this movie. Vinnie Jones was perfect again for his role. He was himself and it worked, I think I'll add him to my favourite actors now after this movie. Whoa, I'm running out of good words to describe this..

So if you haven't seen this already you really, really should. One of the funniest films ever made - this is not one to be missed.
