"2.25 Hirokazu Kore-Eda, 2018 It's really, really nice on all fronts. Tons of beautiful shots, the music manages to fit really well while also being kind of out there and it has a great atmosphere. There is about 10 minutes or so towards the end that loses me though where the atmosphere changes pretty hard and a lot of stuff happens really quickly. "

He plays a balancing act with a lot of characters, which works most of the time, and there's a lot of scenes that don't seem to directly affect the plot, which is a nice change of pace compared to most films in 2018. The vibe is wonderful, which is no surprise, Koreeda's documentary background helps him bring Japan to the screen in a unique way. I'm talking out of my ass but basically this is Koreeda"
