An average movie

I really had no idea what ot expect from this movie but since I always had a weak spot for James Mash's work, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I was actually amazed about how half-baked the damned thing actually turned out to be. I mean, it's not that it was a bad movie, the directing and acting were decent enough and it was actually rather watchable but it must be one of the least remarkable movies I have seen dealing wit this subject. Indeed, by now, I have seen enough movies dealing with the civil war in Northern Ireland and, I don't know, there is something about this conflict that makes it interesting and really dramatic. I guess, it is a little bit like the conflict between Israรซl and Palestina, in the sense that these people could live in harmony but, mostly because they don't have the same religion, they had been butchering each other for decades. Anyway, if some of those movies dealing with this conflict were really quite impressive, that wasn't one of them, I'm afraid. I mean, the opening scene was really strong and introduced most of the important players right from the start in a very effective way but the rest of the movie never really dazzled me. The biggest mistake, in my opinion, was to have Clive Owen's character getting so attached with his informant and it would have worked better if he didn't care so much about what would happen to her. On the other hand, the motivations of the main character were also never clearly stated either. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, I still think it is worth a look, even if it is the weakest movie directed by James Marsh that I have seen so far.
