Deep Red update feed
" Date: 11/27/2020 Viewed: Blu-Ray (Arrow Video) Re-Watch Note: I got the Arrow Video Blu-Ray for my birthday in 2018 and I still haven't gotten the chance to watch it. I feel like today is a good time to revisit this movie. I wanted to do a tribute rewatch for Daria Nicolodi because she recently passed away. Deep Red is still an amazing movie and it is a great work of Italian cinema. I do consider Deep Red to be my second favorite Dario Argento movie next to Suspiria (1977). I will probably k"
" The best, and ONLY positive aspects of this film are the murder scenes. That's literally it. With Giallo, one often has to sit through boring, slow, poorly acted, ridiculously dubbed, cheesy, insufferable, hollow mystery plots that were probably written by a circus monkey. But the reward is fantastic and highly stylized slasher gore sequences, accompanied by the psychedelic prog rock of Goblin. Deep Red is aesthetically striking, full of the same types of colorful visuals and impeccable "
"First viewing - Oct. 13th I had good intentions of getting a trio of Argento films watched on this Sunday, but time got away from me and I barely managed to get two watched around dinner. Deep Red was by far my favorite film of the two, and I can't think of a single thing to point out as a flaw. I'm so glad I finally gave it a look. Also, it turns out Goblin was in town two nights later performing the entire score along with some other songs from Argento's films. Too bad I found out too late "
"Arguably the only other film in Argento's oeuvre that rivals the rabid reception of his magnus opus "Suspiria", and deservedly so. "Deep Red" is the height of the giallo sub-genre that Argento virtually legitimized single-handedly with his brilliant camerawork, lighting, and music curation. "
"Deep Redâs nesting symbols have been planted with a delirious sense of emotional logic. The murder scenes complement and anticipate one another in myriad fashions, and are informed with a piercing loneliness thatâs unusually disturbing and moving. In the film, when a woman is nearly drowned in a bathtub of scalding water, she collapses onto the floor and attempts to write the identity of her killer in condensed steam on a mirror. Dario Argento lingers, with rapturous calm, on the womanâs o"
"19.9. Teatteri. Vallan vahvaa suorittamista. Kameratyöskentely on jÀnnittÀvÀÀ ja Goblinin musat cooleja."
"14.9. Korjaamo (DCP) Argentoa ilmestyi restauroituna kotimaan kankaille viimeksi noin vuosi sitten Suspirian muodossa. Aavistuksen pöhkö kauhusatu oli ensikatselun perusteella visuaalisesti ja ÀÀnimaisemaltaan varsin nautittavaa jöötiÀ. Jokseenkin samoilla vesillÀ liikkuu pari vuotta aiemmin ilmestynyt Profondo Rosso, vaikka yliluonnollisen kauhuilun tilalla on veitsen heiluttelua ja nahkakÀsineet. Eli gialloa. Omalla kohdallani vielÀpÀ ekaa kertaa. Ennustajaeukon pÀÀkoppaan vÀl"
"20.3. Argento on kerta toisensa jÀlkeen pienoinen pettymys minulle enkÀ oikein edes osaa selittÀÀ miksi. Musiikki on luonnollisesti aivan helvetin hyvÀÀ, ja kuvastosta löytyy todella hienoja oivalluksia, mutta silti jokin on pielessÀ. Jotenkin tuntuu typerÀltÀ valittaa elokuvan liiallisesta roskaisuudesta, koska eihÀn Argento muuta olekaan lÀhtökohtaisesti. Pakko vain myöntÀÀ, ettÀ hÀnen elokuvansa eivÀt ole ihan minua varten, vaikka tiedostan aivan tÀysin, miksi niistÀ pit"
