What Planet Are You From? Reviews

Even though I have never heard of this movie before, since I have a weak spot for Mike Nichols' work, I thought I should give it a try. First of all, there was a terrific cast (Garry Shandling, Annette Bening, John Goodman, Greg Kinnear, Ben Kingsley, Richard Jenkins, Linda Fiorentino) and the beginning was actually pretty funny. Even though it was nothing really original, I thought it was rather fun to see Garry Shandling portraying a extraterrestrial being who comes to our planet to have sex. However, even thouh the premise was rather promising, they didn't really manage to exploit it to its full potential and after a while the whole thing was just a succession of midly amusing scenes. It's too bad because with such a cast, they could have make something more rewarding. Eventually, it remains a rather minor effort for Mike Nichols and it was a flop when it was released. Still, in spite of its flaws, I enjoyed the cast and there were some funny scenes and I think it is definitely worth a look.
