An average movie

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, even though it was nothing really groundbreaking, it turned out to be a decent gritty spy action flick. Indeed, Pierce Bosnan gave a decent performance and it was fun to see him playing a more realistic spy than James Bond. On top of that, the action scenes were well done, realistic and quite spectacular. Still, there were a couple of things that didn't really work in this story. First of all, it was rather unbelievable that nobody discovered sooner that Alice Fournier was actually Mira Filipova all along. I mean, in the picture displayed when she was younger, she was maybe 15 years old and she couldn't have changed so much even 10 years later. Another weak twist was that John Hanley turned out to be actually the bad guy. Seriously, it just didn't make much sense. For example, why would he send Peter Devereaux after Natalia Ulanova ? How was that supposed to help him? Furthermore, following this weirdย  decision, Hanley was detained and, then, a few scenes later, he was not only free but was even promoted station chef but, again, why? To be honest, I don't think the whole thing made much sense during the 3rd act. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, it was still watchable and I guess it is worth a look but I think I will forget all about it pretty soon.ย

Actually quite surprised at this. Excellent entertainment. Few parts in script didn't make sense, but after a 2nd viewing, the beginning made more sense :) Decent acting performances. Worth watching.

The November Man review

I felt November was as good a time as any to watch November Man. It's good to see Pierce Brosnan back in action and working with Dante Peak's director Roger Donaldson again. It seems 007 didn't fully retire from the spy network he just changed the country he works for. I have to say some scenes it was as if characters leaned on different sides of the good and evil spectrum. There are a few good twists here and there. When the violence does happen it can get pretty bloody and sometimes intense. The acting is pretty great and proves that Pierce Brosnan still has it. Some things were just discarded and that was a little odd. The ending was pretty good and I like how it left things up for interpretation. It's a pretty good movie and if you enjoy Brosnan you will be enjoying this. I do feel that it could have been better though.
