"MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO - WAITING FOR THE CATBUS Frequently named as the best of the Studio Ghibli films and one of the crowning achievements of director Hayao Miyazaki, 'My Neighbour Totoro' is a film whose immense charm and simple magic crept up on me. The first time I watched it, I enjoyed it but its masterpiece status passed me by, probably due to its unpredictable narrative shifts which seem completely logical on subsequent viewings. Perhaps the greatest shock of 'My Neighbour Totoro' for thos"

" What was it about? When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. " It's a lovely film. It does run a bit slow a few times, but the attention to detail and imagination in this film is quite spectacular and something to admire. Another thing is how efficiently it treats the playfulness of being a child and how the world looks through the eyes of children. The story loses its track every now and then, but it makes up for that by creating quite a few memorable sequences. "
"4.2. Parasta Totorossa on se, kuinka elävä elokuva oikeasti on. Miten ihmiset liikkuvat, reagoivat ja olevat. Hahmot käyttäytyvät niin käsittämättömän aidosti: kuinka täpinöissään lapset vilistävät uuteen kotiin päästyään, kuinka Mei väsyy isää sateessa odottaen, kuinka lapset (ja aikuiset) reagoivat kummituksiin... Listaa voisi jatkaa loppumattomiin. Superlatiiveja visuaalisesta ilmeestä, superlatiiveja teemojen käsittelytavoista. Superlatiiveja elokuvasta. Toisellaki"
