Great dark thriller!

Match Point is a film that is depressing and heartfelt. However, it is unexpectedly dark, psychologically shocking and controversial. What I really love about Match Point is that it’s a very thought-provoking story that becomes quite tragic and the main characters lives begin to change. Match Point begins with a beautiful dialogue but as it goes on, it starts to get dark and very personal. Despi... read more

Dull thriller

I've never been a huge fan of Woody Allen (I didn't even like Annie Hall, thought it was interminably dull.) This movie has some excitement in the last 30 minutes, when everything comes together/falls apart but the middle is rather dull. At nearly two hours long, it could have done with some editing to make it a snappier movie. The other problem is that Jonathan Rhys Myers is wooden faced for so m... read more

What's the Deal?

What's the deal with all these movies with ALL unlikable characters. This is another one. I hated everybody in this movie and couldn't care less what happened to them. And these were a bunch of overly rich, bratty people. My favorite part of the movie was when it was over so I wouldn't have to watch it anymore.

" First Viewing Viewing Date: February 24th Via: Blu-ray Plot: At a turning point in his life, a former tennis pro falls for an actress who happens to be dating his friend and soon-to-be brother-in-law. Rating: 7.6/10 Why Did I Watch It? When I watched Wimbledon, I remembered that this movie existed. I wanted to watch it a good 15 years ago due to the cast and due to Woody Allen, to the point I actually had a burnt copy of the movie on DVD, but I just never got around to watching it. So, I bo"

“Along with Interiors(in a way), Match Point seems to be one of Woody Allen's most divisive films and that's understandable. With me, it is good but not great, interesting but Allen has done better(much worse as well). The ending was surprising which wasn't a problem, but it was also much too rushed and ambiguous, at odds with the rest of the pacing of the film. Jonathan Rhys Meyers and the script also didn't come across as consistent to me. Meyers is handsome and does make for a creepy sleaze in some parts of the film but at other points he underplays so much that he comes across as one-note. The script does have a very neat and healthy balance of sporting analogies and psychological questions, beautifully observed in distinctive Woody Allen fashion, unfortunately there are some clumsy mom” read more

"One of Woody Allen's best movies of the last twenty years. I loved the quick timeline style to show the events. It moves nicely, never feeling rushed and always keeping you curious about the next plot point. It reminds me of "A Place in the Sun" with its plot of themes. The ending is brilliant, and what makes it better than most of Allen's movies, is you don't hear his voice in the characters. "
