Lethal Weapon 3 review

Posted : 7 years, 9 months ago on 3 July 2016 02:07

After the last one I had to make sure to check this one out. The thing I like is how they continuously get the supporting actors to return. The only behind the scenes person who doesn't return is Shane Black (only credited for the characters this time). Jeffrey Boam returns to the writer's chair. Robert Mark Kamen has written a ton of action films from the 80s until now with nearly all of them being pretty fun. Now it's time to check out round 3 of Lethal Weapon. So why exactly is Joe Pesci back for this? I mean he is cool and all, but it does seem a bit silly. See that's why you don't trust him with everything. Riggs is really something else haha. This lady needs to chill. First she worried about getting the crooks then she gets all touchy feely. It's just a bit ridiculous. Oh man this villain is twisted. I had a feeling that's what was going on. Well he actually changes his hairstyle here sort of. I like that the jokes and small things are consistent throughout the series. What ever happened to Sam the dog? Aw this rottweiler is adorable. Oh the ole let's trade battlescars. Damn kick some ass! That guy is about as stupid as those kids from the other installment. The captain has probably his biggest part in the series here. Okay I have to admit this is probably one of the most interesting chase sequences I've seen. Okay nice kill there. Stop...Hammertime lol. Is that actually really possible I wonder? Oh goodness they reflected it from the first one nice and still awkward lol. I figured it would have to end something like that. The continuity in these films is actually pretty good. The action was pretty good. The writing and acting can still be quite a bit corny. It wasn't as good as part two was, but it was still pretty entertaining. I think the first one was still the least impressive. Anyways the series is worth checking out.

A good movie

Of course, I have already seen this flick. As a matter of fact, Iโ€™m pretty sure I have seen it in the theater when it was released. Anyway, I thought it was time for a re-watch, this time, with Nick my step-son. The most striking thing with this franchise, in my opinion, is that they managed to make some really solid sequels which is quite unique especially when you are dealing with action movies (just check the lackluster sequels which followed โ€˜Die Hard'). The funny thing is that I don โ€˜t even believe that โ€˜Lethal Weaponโ€™ was that amazing. I mean, it remains a solid action movie but not much more in my opinion, but it is pretty cool that they managed to keep the same qualities in the following installments. Anyway, back to our main feature, to start with, the story was nothing really amazing but it was not the main interest here. Indeed, there were other things to enjoy : the great chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, the awesome action scenes, the hilarious one-liners, even the obnoxious Leo Getz was actually pretty funny. This time, they even managed to finally find a love interest for Martin Riggs. They tried in the previous installment but it was rather underwhelming but, this time, they got it right. Indeed, Rene Russo was terribly charismatic and Lorna Cole was the perfect match for Martin Riggs. To conclude, even though it is actually nothing really mind-blowing, it remains a really entertaining action flick, I really liked it and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
