Maybe the best Losey. It's beyond scheme and illustration, beyonn it's theatrical source even it is respectful of dramatic scenic unities (but I love how it embraces illustrative image,still photos, that are not flasjback but thesis, filosophical points). Set in WWI, King and Country stars Dirk Bogarde as an arrogant soldier assigned to defend Arthur Hamp (Tom Courtenay), a slow-witted private who faces the death penalty for desertion.
