A good movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since there was a nice cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Eventually, even if the movie itself was not really amazing, I’m afraid, it still turned out to be a fascinating story though. Basically, as long as they were focusing on Gary Webb’s investigation, the whole thing was slightly difficult to follow because of the rapid-fire dialogues and the number of characters involved but it was ultimately quite spellbinding to behold. However, at least half of the movie was about vindicating Gary Webb’s name who definitely deserved it but, to be honest, it was not as interesting as what he had discovered which was truly quite mind-blowing. The main issue, as far as I was concerned, was that Webb himself complained that suddenly the focus was put on him instead of his investigation but that was in fact what this movie exactly did as well. Indeed, in the second half, it was only about how Webb had been mistreated and his actual investigation fell into the background which was too bad in my opinion. Still, I really liked the realistic approach they took and even if it never reached the level of ‘All the President's Men’, it was still probably one of the best movies I have seen in this genre. Anyway, to conclude, it was a really solid thriller dealing with investigative journalism and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Kill the Messenger review

The first hour is great and exciting, looked like it was on a good roll, unfortunately it starts going downhill, however it is still an enjoyable action-thriller film with decent (and good-looking) actors ;)

Kill the Messenger review

I have to say until watching this I don't recall seeing anything about it. Although I should have seeing as I find Jeremy Renner a remarkable actor. Oh Ray Liotta is in here too. Not too sure that it's a good thing, but he isn't always in stinkers. Also Richard Schiff and Michael K. Williams in another crime related film I decided to check out back to back. In fact this is the 3rd film just this month I've seen with Michael K. Williams. What a busy guy! This may not be the kind of movie everyone will like, but it's definitely quite informative if you know nothing about the story. A few big names here that have quite small roles with some that are pivotal. The ending makes me think of all the Illuminati stuff going on. I thought this movie was intelligent and thought provoking. I don't think it was as gripping as it should have been giving the content of the story. I feel that there were parts missing here and there. Not sure if it was intentional or if the editing was a bit off. I think with a better crew this would have been quite a watch. I say it's a one time watch only just for Jeremy Renner and to learn a little important history of our civilization.
