Brilliant family entertainment!

Posted : 9 months, 4 weeks ago on 30 June 2023 03:52

While I try not to take IMDb ratings to heart, I do think the rating for this film is too low. The film is absolutely fantastic in all departments. I will admit, there are some bits that are quite scary due to some scenes that are amazingly dark. The film does start off slowly, but when the film fast forwards to twenty six years later, the film turns into fast-paced family entertainment. Other than one or two scary scenes and the slow beginning, I could find very little wrong with Jumanji. The story is great, very intriguing and filled with humour, scares and poignancy. The cinematography and scenery are constantly breathtaking, and the special effects are extraordinary. The film is aided by a hilarious and poignant script, spirited direction, atmspheric music and the fact that it goes at a very fast pace. Even the acting was great, with Robin Williams in one of his best performances as Alan Parrish. While he is subtle in places, the director allows him to be funny, which is what he does best. Bonnie Hunt is good too and she and Williams have great chemistry, and Bradley Pierce and Kirsten Dunst are cute and lively. Plus the ending is nice and satisfying. All in all, I love this movie, even with its very minor problems, it is non-stop fast paced family entertainment. 9/10 Bethany Cox

An average movie

If I recall it correctly, I actually saw this movie in the movie theater when it was released. Anyway, even though this movie doesn't have a really good reputation (Roger Ebert didn't like it at all for example), I always had a weak spot for this flick and it is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. Indeed, I always thought that the concept was pretty cool and, in my opinion, it was fairly well handled here. Of course, at the end of the day, it was still nothing really mind-blowing but I thought that the special effects were quite convincing and I enjoyed the whole chaos created by the plot. I thought also that this chaos was a good match with Robin Williamsโ€™s hysterical blend of humor. On a side note, back in those days, Kirsten Dunst was still a child and she had managed to have a pretty steady career since then. Anyway, I don't know, Roger Ebert criticized how messy it was and how young kids must have been frightened by the whole thing but I thought it was actually a fun mess with some rather impressive special effects which are still pretty neat 20 years later. To conclude, I thought it was a decent watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย

Jumanji review

Jumanji is a movie based off of the book of the same name, and... well, I can't say if it's great, but it's watchable. The story cements itself to make you feel sorry for Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who ends up trapped in the board game for 26 years, and during that time, his parents have passed away (apparently caused by broken hearts). But the first 15 minutes might have been a bit too depressing. However, Williams, Bonnie Hunt, and the children are the best actors in the movie, and the effects on the wildlife from the board game are decent at the least. The ending is nice, as it alters the past and present once the game is finished. Oh, and this was directed by Joe Johnston, who directed Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, so this could be fun.

My rating: 6/10

Dice And A Riddle

Amusing enough, I suppose.

Although, to be honest, my childhood could be rather disappointing.

(7/10)

Jumanji review

Well the Jumanji is just a great movie which shows how life is filled with luck and chances... The concept of game of dice is so good and the movie will be a bit of thriller too because we will be curious what may come next when they roll the dice each time.... Williams did his Alan character well, i almost felt like crying when Alan came to know that his family is no more.... The only backdrop of the movie is the monkey. It seems so unusual..... Overall, a good movie everyone could watch....:) Enjoy... :)
