(OK) Effective, hard, violent in a way, depiction of a time, there are good an evil adults, but boys are always forgivable...no sex but a bit of impossible romance...
Description:
At the end of the World War II, hungry, homeless children are to be found roving aimlessly on the roads of Eastern-Europe. These kids, starving and abandoned, often stick together and become members of the same hoard. A group led by Hosszú, chances upon Péter Simon, a conductor, who, secluded from the raging war among the rumbles of a castle, is awaiting the advent of peace. The children and the old pure minded man gradually become friends. They join forces in defending the castle against a group of the village people set against them. One child is, however, killed, but they are successful in freeing their mates held in detent
