Hachi: A Dog's Tale review

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 3 May 2014 01:36

Hachiko was good movie, i watched for the first time and i liked also because i love dogs. It is touching how can be faithful and loyal a dog, it can ask only food from you but what gives to you in exchange is way a lot. At the end is shown that the movie is based on real story happened in Japan, and there is the statue of this faithful dog in Shibuya station in Tokyo.
It is amazing how a dog can do for the owner, maybe not all the dogs are like this but they have high sense of friendship and devotion that humans doesn't have.
Happy that Hachiko didn't been hit because i have seen owners that hit their dogs and always forgive their owners instead to be upset.
Hachiko gave so much to his owner Parker (R.Gere) waiting for him outside the station for years, the Japanese dog did it for 9 years, that's for show dogs are really the best friend and not the humans race.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale review

I thought that this was amazing and truly heartfelt. It's a modernized version of a true story which makes it pretty cool if you ask me. I like a good movie centered on animals if it is done well and of course this doesn't disappoint. The cast is great as well with Richard Gere, Joan Allen, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Sarah Roemer, Jason Alexander, and Erick Avari. I thought the dog did a pretty great performance. One thing I didn't understand though is why the movie is title I don't I heard a single person call the dog Hachiko at any point. Anyways check this out it is amazing and cool. It can be a bit of a tearjerker, but it is totally worth it.

This is really a great movie, one of the best example of showing the true meaning of faithfulness, loyalty and love. It really made me cry thought the story is very simple yet it captured and soften my heart.

An average movie

Since this movie seemed to have a really solid reputation (it has an impressive 8.1 rating on IMDB and it is even listed in the IMDB 250 Top Rated movies) and since I always had a weak spot for Lasse Hallstrom’s work, I was really eager to check it out. Eventually, I wish I saw the damned thing with my wife. Indeed, since we are together, she has bought 10 dogs and we still have 6 of them right now but I never managed to convince her to watch this movie because she was afraid it would be too emotional for her. Anyway, I must admit that it was a touching story, the directing by Hallstrom was pretty good as usual and Richard Gere gave a decent performance. However, even though the whole thing was touching, I’m sorry, but I didn’t think it was anything really mind-blowing whatsoever. It was also rather annoying to see all these people having some conversations with that dog. At least, they didn't make the dog answer them which would have been pretty awfull but I still thought it was rather ridiculous. I guess without this gimmick there wouldn't have been any dialogues during the whole thing. Anyway, even thoug it didn’t really blow me away, I have to admit it, it was a well made drama and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale review

Based on a true story from Japan, a moving film about loyalty and the rare, invincible bonds that occasionally form almost instantaneously in the most unlikely places.

'Richard Gere' plays a college professor, who forms a bond with an abandonned dog at a train station, who he takes home for the night, with no intention of keeping him. He just wants to return him to his owner, but he soon becomes quite attached, especially after no one claims the missing dog.

Hachiko becomes very attached to Parker Wilson too, waiting for him at the train station after work everyday, where he then walks with him back home.

When Parker suddenly dies while at work, Hachiko is still waiting at the train station for him to return, but he never does. It's a very sad story, as the poor dog doesn't understand that he's gone, so he continues to go back day after day, only making the audience feel even more sympathetic towards the dog, as each day his owner never returns.

A true story of faith, devotion and undying love.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale review

I never cried so much in a movie like this. When the movie finished, i was still crying of a big emotion, that i felt seeing the film. What amaze is Hachiko's face when he stays all day long a front to that station. That movie tells a story that thrill of seeing the dog's loyalty to his master, and that's it what i most admired in the movie. I found a mere characteristic, that convinced me which this film, can transfer a beautiful reality, in a way which make us cry, with the beauty of the history that them passed. The most heartwarming and yet the most heart wrencking movie, can't recall any film have such emotional impact on me. I still keep thinking about the story and every time when I think about it, I felt sad and so sorry for both the Prof and the dog, I am sure this is a film I won't forget... the soundtrack is another praise.., definitely a classic for Richard Gere... Although the movie centered on the bond/love between Hachi and his human parent, this is also a story about love between spouse, love between friends, father-daughter love and most of all, a close knit community of people with a big heart... My favourite scene is where Mrs Wilson come back to town after 10 years and found Hachi still waiting, so touching I can't control my tears... the closing scene is just devastating, Hachi died still dreaming of his master coming out of the train station.. This is a must see movie for every dog lovers. For human, dogs may just be a part of our life, but for the dog(s), we are everything they got. Again, Richard Gere is just superb and natural, so did Joan Allen. And lastly the dogs are so cute and adorable. A truly remarkable wait - 10 years... words failed to describe the amount of love, devotion and loyalty Hachi had for Parker...
