Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes Reviews

For as long as I can remember, Christopher Lamber has been laughed about in France. I don’t really remember when it started exactly (probably when he showed up in all those terrible B movies) or if they have the same perception of him abroad but we usually tend to forget that the guy had a pretty terrific start with his career. Indeed, this movie was his first English-speaking role and I thought he was actually really good in this. As a matter of fact, I’m rather amazed that this movie got such low ratings. Indeed, I thought it was a terrific raw and (relatively) realistic version of the famous Ape man. Indeed, Tarzan, with Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood or Dracula, is one of those characters which have been adapted 100 times and since all the details about this story is common knowledge, it is rather difficult to get really excited by yet another vision. However, the approach was here quite different, rather dark and ominous, I thought it was quite fascinating and, yes, Christopher Lambert was really good in this. To conclude, I think this flick is really underrated and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
