An average movie

I wasnโ€™t really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Sam Worthington and since it was on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, it took me too long to really get into the damned thing. Indeed, the whole thing was really grim, not only the tone but also visually speaking. Furthermore, even though Worthington is always charismatic, I never really cared about his character and the rest of his family was even less interesting. It probably had to with the fact that none of these characters was really developed. And, yet, from the moment the family of the main character did disappear, I have to admit that the whole thing actually did grab me. Indeed, it actually turned out to be fairly clever. For example, one thing that what was well done was the fact that they kept spreading some clues, some which were actually giving up what was actually going on and some others which were misleading on purpose. As a result, my wife was actually convinced that there was some kind of conspiracy in this hospital but I wasnโ€™t so sure. However, I thought it was rather heavy-handed and unconvincing how this psychiatrist managed to figure this out after just her first meeting with the main character and in a very short lapse of time. Obviously, this โ€˜geniusโ€™ psychiatrist was there simply to make sure that every moronic Netflix could actually understand what just happened. However, beside this point, it all made sense to me and it was refreshing to see a thriller which was not completely far-fetched and which focused on the state of mind of the main character instead of going for some random generic action scenes. Anyway, to conclude, it turned out to be a decent concept after all and I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
