Budapest, the autumn of 1919. After the fall of the Commune, the Vizys try to continue everything as they did before. They hire a new house-maid, the silent and diligent Anna. Mrs. Vizy thoroughly exploits the girl but she does not protest. She tries to get acquainted with city life.
