A bad movie

Posted : 12 years, 6 months ago on 14 October 2011 09:00

When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and, at the time, I watched pretty much all the movies he made at the beginning of his career. Of course, growing up, I discovered that the guy wasn't actually that good but I always got nostalgic when I watch one of his flicks. In this movie, the other 'big' star was Mickey Rourke. Nowadays, everybody is saying he is great again but back then, nobody gave a sh*t about the guy. Of course, showing up in this kind of movie didn't help much... To complete this, as the wild card, they gave us Dennis Rodman. Honestly, I kind of liked his character, this giant black guy, pierced everywhere, changing his hair color every 5 minutes. Unfortunately, Mr Rodman was (and still is, I guess) a very bad actor (worst than Van Damme? I'm not sure...). The movie itself was just a really preposterous action movie, with some ridiculous scenes throughout and some terrible dialogues and even though Tsui Hark was supposed to be some hot-shot from Hong Kong, this movie was just a mess. To conclude, it was just a bad and boring movie and it is not worth a look whatsoever.

Not Too Bad, But Not Awesome

I am a huge fan of Van Damme, and I love all of his performance in this movie. It is a pretty good example of your classic action movie. I am not going to say that the plot is breath taking, or that the acting is Broadway material, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, but it was good enough to give it a chance. The biggest issue was Dennis Rodman. Where in the heck did he come from? The cover makes it seem like he plays a huge role, and in the last 30 minutes, he does. Other than that, it is mostly the Van-Man who is the focus. It seems like the movie could have been better without a horrible actor like him. It also seemed like he played himself rather than his character. Overall, not a bad movie, but it is on the bottom of my "To Buy" list.

Double Team review

Hahahaha! What a hoot.

This is the most outrageous film I've seen this year. I've seen it in the past but not with an objective eye as now. I think every law of physics is just ignored and gravity doesn't exist either!

It's just a poor man's/scripts Lethal Weapon with the token bi-racial duo. Van Damme pulls in his usual style of performance but everyone else is terrible. Mickey Rourke's CGI body is definitely one of the funniest moments, he's more greasy than a Foreman drip tray.

Van Damme always does his best but I'm afraid the Tiger wins the Oscar this time!
