" Donnie Darko tells a heart-wrenching story while chipping steadily away at the audience's disbelief in the fantastic, making us realize, then accept, that the most rational explanations for odd events aren't always the most truthful. A truly excellent, if totally bizarre, story. "

" The Dali-esque/surreal journey through time travel of a high school teenager turned reluctant "superhero" Donnie Darko and his spiritual sidekick Frank the bunny. Believe me, despite having the ability to perceive warps in the time-stream, these two guys ain't no dynamic duo."
"Re-watch - Sept. 10th With director Richard Kelly in attendance Seeing Donnie Darko on the big screen isn't a frequent opportunity, so while I was more excited about finally seeing Southland Tales on the big screen I figured I'd take the chance and see both. I've also seen the director's cut in theaters once"
"Intertwining concepts of schizophrenia, destructive behavior, and the experience of other dimensions. Touches on the danger of hidden vices from respected individuals."

I have to admit it, it is actually rather difficult to discuss this movie since the whole thing is pretty weird and rather messed-up and, in fact, even Jake Gyllenhaal himself admitted that he had no idea what the movie was about. What Richard Kelly managed to do is to mix a believable teenage reality with some really dark fantasy and, somehow, even though half of the movie was almost impossible to follow, the end-result was still quite fascinating to behold which was quite an achievement. After 5 long years, as a follow-up,” read more
