An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. I have to admit that, since I’m a stepdad myself, I did feel a connection with the material and, as a result, I probably gave the damned thing some extra points that it might not actually really deserve. Still, I think they got some aspects right. Basically, being a dad (biological or not), as displayed in this movie, consists mostly of simply being always around and take care of millions of things without showing to your kids that it might be a massive burden. Well, as long as the movie was focusing on this, it was actually working fairly well and it could have been a nice surprise if they actually scaled down the absurd competition between the 2 dads. Of course, the conflict between the two men was basically the whole point of this movie but, to be honest, I didn’t care much for it. I mean, it was pretty neat that Mark Wahlberg was playing his character as being really cool, with some swag and much more wit than I expected and Will Ferrell was playing his usual moron with a heart of gold but it did work with this material. However, I think it would have been more entertaining if they would have chosen a more down-to-earth approach instead of turning Wahlberg’s character into a semi-psycho. Anyway, to conclude, even if I probably give this movie too much credit, it was still a decent watch and I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Daddy's Home review

I really despise Will Ferrell. Not only is he a man-child that never quits he always acts with people that I really enjoy. Then again I still end up watching movies of his hoping to be surprised by an actual good performance. Of which Everything Must Go was one such time. Also I have a saying to give everything at least a shot. I actually enjoy Sean Anders films from Sex Drive to Horrible Bosses 2. The only movie I hated was Dumb and Dumber To. John Morris has accompanied him on many of these films as the writer. Brian Burns wrote some for the Blue Mountain State show which I found hilarious. That little girl needs therapy. Then again I would draw homeless man crap on his head too. Haha Mark Wahlberg's character is definitely awesome. Okay that motorcycle part just doesn't seem possible whatsoever. Okay that's pretty funny. Hannibal looks like he is a bit high here. Holy crap that's definitely not good! Even Hannibal is more hilarious than Will Ferrell. Oh yeah sometimes you learn the right things for wrong situations lol. Of course he ends up shirtless once again. Like what makes him think it's funny to do that in every film? That ending was great. What goes around comes around. Mark Wahlberg and Hannibal Buress bring most of the laughs here. I would choose Linda Cardellini over Alessandra Ambrosio any day. It's not a great movie, but it really isn't all that bad. I was amused for the most part. It still has pretty much the same humor as you would expect in a Will Ferrell movie so keep that in mind.
