"the underwater scenes were quite impressive especially Ricou Browning's swimming/diving with the creature suit on parts. The Gill-man suit is pretty great looking if only they would have been able to make the eyes a bit more lifelike for the costume it would still be quite impressive nowadays too."

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- April 2018 (31 movies items)

" DVD- 1hr. 19min. First Viewing It is inherently interesting thanks to it's filmmaking skill and makeup innovations, though Creature from the Black Lagoon is a bit hamstrung by the era it's made. While there is a classic charm to the story, it's a rather bland one that doesn't start to form until the last fifteen minutes. There is, also, a serious lack of the title Creature; this is likely do to the fact that technical innovations limited the filmmaking possibilities, despite some legendary make"

" There are many things about this film that's completely wonderful. The most obvious thing is the actual design of the costume for the creature, which is unbelievably cool. I also dig the musical score that appears every time he's on the screen. He might be a little bit overused, but he's so cool that its forgivable. There are also some very nice photography in this film, particularly the underwater scenes, which are gorgeous. It might feel a bit long towards the end and I'm also slightly disa"

"Tengo una debilidad por las historias que se relacionan con la vida submarina, además la historia y la actuaciones me gustaron. Sin mencionar que el disfraz de la criatura está bastante bien hecho."

" A Memorable monster movie mostly due to the creature itself that has a great costume and the lovely Julie Adams in a one-piece white swimming suit. Jack Arnold put some great jungle noises and dark foggy atmosphere to hide it's studio locale that works pretty good, but the film drowns me in underwater sequences that become boring after a while. "OCTOBER 22: I'm way behind on my mini-reviews. I think this movie was good, but not anything to write home about. I think the main point of this movie was creating an excuse for a bunch of male actors to strut around in swimming trunks and bare-chested. I feel like if you cut out everything that didn't actually further the plot, this movie would be half the length it presently is. "

"October 16 "I can tell you something about this place. The boys around here call it "The Black Lagoon"; a paradise. Only they say nobody has ever come back to prove it." After seeing this, I gotta say that this is one of the best Universal monster movies. It had great dialogue and characters and the creature himself was pretty badass. It was a highly entertaining movie and it's easily a classic in my book."
