Based upon Clive Barker's short story. This is a film filled with memorable imagery and Tony Todd is enormously effective as Candyman as is Virginia Madsen as the woman investigating the old myth. It has an authentic feel due to it's ghetto scenes and while it has stupid convenient behavior from characters chanting the name of the killer so that they can get killed off it is hard not to say this film feels like a filmed old urban legend. It may not be the smartest written horror movie but luck"
