An average movie

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but I still ended up watching the damned thing. Obviously, like most of the major female popstars, Christina Aguilera had to play the actress at some point. Eventually, for her first movie, she didn't take much risk as she decided to perform in a musical. Still, even though it was a rather safe choice, I didn't care much for the whole thing. Basically, it is like Aguilera herself, on one hand, she is physically quite attractive but, on the other hand, she looks really trashy as well, like a crossing between a pornstar and a cheap escort-girl. Indeed, they tried to sell the audience that burlesque was a really classy affair but I wasn't really convinced and the whole thing was still pretty trashy. On top of that, the fact that the story was just really pedestrian and rather boring didn't help either. At least, I have to admit that Christina Aguilera was impressive when she was singing, technically, she is a really strong singer, it's just too bad she has this terribly slutty image. To conclude, I really didn't really like it much and I don't think it is really worth a look.

I swear I've been almost taken by preconcept before seeing the movie, but I pressed to see it because when I saw the trailer, months ago, I felt the movie would be book. Glad I believed on my feeling. Inside of the musical's proposal, the movie is great. Christina looks good, not only singing, but she's unrecognizable as character Ali. Cher is okay, as always. The production is faultless and the performances makes anyone to get chills indeed. Of course there are some things that aren't that good, the drama could have been a little more elaborated and some cliche moments could be avoided, but nothing that compremets the movie for complete.

"Guess what's gonna happen? Guess next?" That's what I wondered for the whole movie, of course with a lot of irony. This is the most predictable movie I ever seen, it's a container for the most banal cliches served with volgar sex-simulation dancing. If you're a fan of Christina Aguilera it'll be fine, she looks beautiful and sings a lot, but honestly I think that this movie it's a real waste of time
