The Boss Baby review

Posted : 5 years, 10 months ago on 18 June 2018 02:19

Too many explanations of the invented world and its codes, too many dreams inside a story that in a way is a dream factory. All this is a common default of animation blockbusters..

Ridiculous and not creative, witah a good message about family but a bad execution, Boss Baby is one of the worst Dreamworks movies in a long time.

The Boss Baby

A two word premise that’s been stretched out to 97 minutes with a fair number of borderline nihilistic and confused messages going on, The Boss Baby has got to be one of the worst movies ever nominated for an Oscar. There’s clearly a very muddled message about an older sibling’s feelings of resentment and fear of replacement at the heart of this movie, but it’s far too concerned with cynical jokes to even bother exploring that. It’s as if DreamWorks is the Asylum of animated feature studios in comparison to the more thoughtful and unique boutique studios like Laika, Pixar, or GKids. They get a unique premise and then never bother developing the idea beyond that initial premise, load it up with numerous pop culture references, unearned emotional moments, and then send it out with the established plans for an eventual franchise. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, this is a film that positions there’s only so much love to go around in the world and tries to make us laugh at the concept of a special milk formula that keeps babies developmentally stunted while they engage in office culture. Hard to think that this entertained any kids, but at least there’s a few moments of creative animation to liven things up while it spins its wheels.

KAWAII!!!
Seriously.
This movie is very funny, but not aspire to more. The characters look cute, but sometimes they get somewhat desperate.
And half a movie becomes a bit tired, although the end is restored a little.
In any case it is only advisable if you like the absurd comedy.

Normalita.

Ni fu, ni fa. No es mala, pero tampoco es buena.

No le veo sentido a que saquen una segunda película.

An average movie

When I saw the trailer for this movie, it seemed pretty weak but my daughter thought it looked pretty neat so we still ended up watching the damned thing in the movie theater together. Well, eventually, I wasn't positively surprised by this movie, I'm afraid. Seriously, is it me or are the concepts delivered by Dreamworks Animation becoming only more and more pathetic? I mean, there was something pretty neat about this idea of a young boy trying to deal with with the arrival of his new baby brother (After all, Pixar already displayed with 'Inside Out' that you can make a great movie  about a kid going through some huge life changing event) but, eventually, everything else was just so lame. I mean, seriously, a baby wearing a suit and talking like Alec Baldwin, trying to stop some complot from a puppy company? That was their brilliant idea? When we got home, my daughter was not even able to tell exactly what it was about to my wife, even though we just finished to watch the damned thing only 10 minutes before. On the other hand, I have to admit that she really liked this movie though. Eventually, like 'Home', it was something really childish that could be enjoyable for the young kids but I don't think many grown-ups will have a good time watching this flick. I sure did not.
