(MU) Happy, very happy, 'dude' back to the future and the past and the multiverse present before it was named so...

Nonstop hilarity from start to finish!

Posted : 1 year, 11 months ago on 8 May 2022 11:35

No matter how silly this movie can become, it is still a hilarious and engaging comedy, and an utter delight from start to finish. The screenplay was intelligent, original, uproariously funny and witty. I also loved the film's plot, about Bill and Ted going back in time to make sure they don't fail their history exam. I will admit I don't care for Keanu Reeves that much, but as Bill and Ted he and Alex Winter turned in honest, appealing and likable performances. The soundtrack is hip and cool too. The film is full of wonderful characters and scenes, the Tudor scene was indeed fun, but any scene with Napolean and Beethoven are guaranteed to end you up in hysterics. The adventure is fast-paced, imaginative and never has an unengaging moment. All in all, a hugely enjoyable film. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Time-Travel to the 80s!

Posted : 11 years, 11 months ago on 21 May 2012 03:40

I've begun to try to watch enough comedy to at least balance out my drama...and "real" stuff to balance out the sci-fi....although I realize that there is such a thing as sci-fi comedy....

But this sort of thing is just mediocre--especially with all the pseudo-educational value, which does little except remind me of how dumb we are, who think we're clever....and I also don't like George Carlin, although I'll admit to having some pleasure at seeing Neo casted as a....different kind of person, way....before. ^^

{And, you know, like in that commercial--"This isn't scary!" "Are you kidding? Look at that picture of your mom's hair from the 80s!"}

And, you know: Billy the Kid and Socrates approach two 80s girls sitting at a table together, chatting. Billy introduces them, mispronouncing the other guy's name, and, unfurling a 'Wanted: Billy the Kid' scroll, explains that they are "from history". The girls giggle, and Freud appears from behind them and decides that, "you are all suffering from a form of mild hysteria" in a not-so-mild German accent. The girls giggle-murmur "geeks" (or "freaks"?) in a muffled-inaudible kind of way, and then scamper off. Freud is left puzzled. "Geeks?" he wonders aloud.

(7/10)

A good movie

Honestly, I wasnโ€™t sure what to expect from this flick as it did look pretty lame but since it has actually a cult status, I was rather intrigued and I wanted to check it out. First of all, many of us may have forgot it but way before he was Neo, Keanu Reeves' career actually took off after playing the uber doofus, Ted Logan, in this 80's classic comedy. Like I said before, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this flick but eventually I was actually positively surprised and I thought it was indeed pretty cool. Indeed, for once, you had here a movie about time travelling which didn't take itself seriously at all and it was a real breeze of fresh air. Basically, the makers and even the characters themselves were well aware of the fact that everything going on on the screen was just completely preposterous and the whole thing is simply an excuse to have some good old fun. And indeed, this flick was maybe not entirely hilarious but it was still pretty damned funny and I definitely had a good time watching this. Anyway, to conclude, even if it is not really a masterpiece, it still deserves its solid reputation and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you look for a good old cheesy comedy from the 80's.
